When my mom passed away things were very difficult. When I first started at Legae I was sick and malnourished. My dad was doing the best he could, but he wasn’t working and we were struggling. The teachers here became like my mothers and the meals that I received at Legae soon helped me to become healthy. I still attend Legae Aftercare and Mam Welhemina is very good to me.
I loved attending Legae. It was like my second home. I came to the Centre when I was only 5 years old. The staff and teachers gave me so much love and taught me well. I am now 15 and doing very well at school.
I started attending Legae Aftercare when they first opened. I was struggling at my school and Legae helped me to go a school that was better suited to me. I became a leader and did well in class. I am now completing my matric through a college. Legae was like my home and they supported me over the years. Auntie Christine came to my school prize-giving evenings when I was still at school and they bought me school books and stationery.
My mom brought me to Legae nursery school when I was four. It was like a home. I have achieved well at school, in mathematics and languages and I believe the good grounding I got from Legae played a role in that.
